After a disappointing week 1 loss to the division rival Minnesota Vikings, the Chicago Bears are suddenly searching for answers. In a game that the Bears controlled for much of the first and parts of the second half, Chicago failed to close out the game, raising questions about the capability of the roster and coaching staff.
An annual week 1 tradition in the NFL is never knowing what to expect. While the Bears had all offseason to prepare for such a crucial game, Ben Johnson's gameplan on offense wasn't enough to get the job done. Quarterback Caleb Williams threw the ball 35 times and ended the game being the team's leading rusher. Anytime the quarterback is the team's leading rusher, it likely means that a team is unable to get the run game going, which is something that the Bears failed to do on Monday night.
For this episode of the Halas Beat, hosts Usayd Koshul and Steve Letizia provide analysis for why we shouldn't be hitting the panic button, despite a week 1 loss. Usayd and Steve also discuss what the Bears will need to accomplish ahead of a week 2 showdown against the Detroit Lions.
