John Terry has revealed which club he’d like to see win the Premier League this season, and the answer might upset the Chelsea faithful.
Terry is considered to be one of the greatest players in Chelsea history, having captained the team to multiple honours throughout his time at Stamford Bridge.
The former Chelsea and England captain made 717 appearances for the Blues, being the third most capped player in the club’s history, but he isn’t backing Enzo Maresca’s men to get over the line this season.

Even though Chelsea have started the new Premier League campaign undefeated, the former central defender would like to see one specific club lift the title this season.

John Terry wants Liverpool to win the Premier League to honour Diogo Jota
Chelsea have made an impressive start to the Premier League campaign, and currently sit second, just two points behind the defending champions, Liverpool.
Most Chelsea fans might think that Terry’s answer would naturally be his former club, but instead, he told talkSPORT that he wants to see Liverpool retain the title.
“I think it’s theirs to lose. They have a big motivation with the very sad loss of Diogo Jota as well, in the back of their minds. For that reason, I really hope Liverpool do it for that reason alone, to be honest.
“I think they’re the strongest side. I think Man City have shown vulnerability again this season. I’m not sure Chelsea have enough experience in their squad to push them.
“And also, I don’t want to put pressure on the Chelsea squad as well. So, I think it’s Liverpool’s to lose, and like I said, I wish them well for it.”
Terry’s reasoning for wanting Liverpool to win the Premier League this season is a heartfelt one, as Diogo Jota’s death is something that rocked the entire industry.
Liverpool have worked hard to honour Jota ever since, with some beautiful tributes having taken place in and around Anfield.
Liverpool retired Jota’s number 20 shirt, and several players and former teammates at other clubs have honoured him throughout the season so far with their goal celebrations.
Liverpool invested heavily in the squad to retain the Premier League
Liverpool invested heavily in the squad throughout the summer, signing the likes of Alexander Isak and Florian Wirtz in a bid to give Arne Slot the quality needed to retain the title.
So far, Liverpool have won all three of their opening games, two of which were dramatic comebacks, and the other a resolute 1-0 win against fellow title rivals Arsenal.
Liverpool will now face Burnley this weekend in their first game back from the international break, with a lot of expectation on Isak’s potential debut.
However, Slot will have to deal with potential injury issues to Ibrahima Konate and Jeremie Frimpong when it comes to his team selection.
