Zac Taylor Could Reach Notable Career Mark On Sunday

The Cincinnati Bengals are too talented on offense to continue to struggle.

Unfortunately, a subpar defense and questionable coaching have cost them too many times.

Fortunately, in Week 1, that defense looked better in a win against the Cleveland Browns.

Now, head coach Zac Taylor has an opportunity to do something he’s never done.

“On Sunday, Taylor can start 2-0 for the first time in his career as Bengals coach. He’s 0-5 in Week 2 and swung and missed in his last opportunity to start with two straight victories. It’s arguably even more important to him than going 1-0 every week,” Nick Shook wrote.

Slow starts have hurt Taylor’s team over his seven seasons in charge.

There was even some talk about whether the Bengals should part with him if they got off to another disappointing start.

Cincinnati escaped Cleveland with a narrow win, which was obviously a big relief, but it took two missed kicks by the Browns to avoid a possible loss.

The Bengals’ high-flying offense was nowhere to be found, with Tee Higgins and Ja’Marr Chase failing to combine for 60 receiving yards.

Now, the Jacksonville Jaguars will visit for Cincinnati’s home opener.

The Jaguars looked better in the first game under head coach Liam Coen, but that should be taken with a grain of salt, as it was against the Carolina Panthers, who might finish the season with the worst record in the NFL.

All things considered, there are reasons to believe the Bengals can take care of business, but history isn’t on their coach’s side.
