The Cleveland Browns have been a media circus seemingly since the moment they drafted former Colorado Buffaloes star Shedeur Sanders in the fifth round of the 2025 NFL Draft, following his unprecedented slide down the NFL draft boards.
However, the Browns and head coach Kevin Stefanski have buried the young talent on the depth chart, much to the chagrin of their fans. Now, it seems things are even worse for Sanders than fans realized.
“I’m hearing Shedeur is not even running scout team. He’s literally watching everyone, Bailey Zappe’s running scout team. I don’t know if that’s true, that’s what I’m hearing,” Browns reporter Tony Rizzo said, [according to Awful Announcing.](https://awfulannouncing.com/nfl/tony-rizzo-sheduer-sanders-scout-team-cleveland-browns.html)
“Why is he on the team? Why is he even here if that is what you think, because his jersey is selling? The Haslams don’t need jersey money, do they,” Rizzo asked. “Then why is he on the team if he’s not even running scout team?”
Fans reacted to the news on social media.
“I think the practice squad player runs the scout team. I think that is pretty normal. I mean third string QB is the emergency QB so I assume you want him to worry about your teams plays not the other teams plays,” one fan wrote on Twitter.
“Way too early to come to any conclusions about Sanders,” someone else added.
“Sheduer deserves better, someone get him TF out of Cleveland,” another fan added.
It’ll be interesting to see if Sanders ever takes the field in Cleveland.
