‘Green Light Imminent’: Nottingham Forest Set for Departure of ‘Cult Favourite’

The summer transfer window closed for Premier League clubs back on September 1, but for Turkish clubs, it is still open until tomorrow, September 12. English sides may still be trying to shift deadwood, or players who need playing time, and so could turn to the Super Lig. Nottingham Forest are close to sending Jota Silva to Besiktas on loan.

Green Light Imminent for Jota Silva

Fabrizio Romano has revealed that Besiktas are “closing in” on a deal for Silva. The Portuguese winger joined Nottingham Forest just a year ago, but quickly established himself as a “cult favourite”. Romano reports that a deal has almost been agreed for a loan with a buy option. The 26-year-old would spend the 2025/26 season in Turkey before potentially making a permanent switch. If just one of Hudson-Odoi, Ndoye, Hutchinson, or McAtee gets injured, you would feel like Ange Postecoglou might be a bit short on depth when playing both Premier League and Europa League fixtures, let alone if two did. Silva seemed like the perfect fifth choice, as he was clearly at the bottom of that pecking order, but still a talented player. However, it was surely the truth that Silva did not want to sit on the bench for another year.
