Nick Emmanwori injury update could shockingly affect Seahawks postseason hopes

Is a season made in one week in the NFL? No. Two? Probably not, but things do start to get complicated. For the Seattle Seahawks, starting the season 0-2 could be grave. The NFC West is no joke.

That is the difference between, say, the Seahawks and the Atlanta Falcons. Seattle is better than Atlanta, but the Falcons play in a much easier division. They could fall to 0-3, and things might be OK. If the Seahawks do that, the season could be done.

The San Francisco 49ers, Los Angeles Rams, and (maybe) the Arizona Cardinals are all good teams and could all end up with winning records. A team that gets off to a bad start could easily finish last in the division.

Seattle Seahawks rookie Nick Emmanwori misses practice ahead of Week 2

----------------------------------------------------------------------

The Seahawks are not helped by the fact that one rookie they counted on, safety Nick Emmanwori, is not likely to play for a bit. He would [have been extremely beneficial](https://12thmanrising.com/seattle-seahawks-draft-pick-crash-defensive-rookie-year-race) to have against the Pittsburgh Steelers. Quarterback Aaron Rodgers and Pittsburgh are probably going to keep things close to the proverbial vest, and a safety that can create havoc at the line of scrimmage is needed.

Emmanwori, though, suffered a high ankle sprain in Week 1, and he isn't going to play in Week 2. He might miss Week 3, too. The shame is that he looked good in extremely limited action in Week 1, playing just four snaps but tackling 49ers star Christian McCaffrey for a loss.

Now, here is the good news. [After missing Jake Bobo](https://12thmanrising.com/seattle-seahawks-fans-watched-jake-bobo-live-entire-nfl-life-one-night) in Week 1 due to a concussion, he was back at practice on Wednesday. He isn't an explosive wide receiver, but he might be useful in offensive coordinator Klint Kubiak's system. Someone needs to be other than Jaxon Smith-Njigba.

Edge rusher Uchenna Nwosu was also a full participant in practice. He is still trying to come back from offseason knee surgery. He might be able to play in Week 2.

Somewhat alarmingly, cornerback Devon Witherspoon did not practice due to a knee problem. This is something to watch as the week goes on, but hopefully, he was simply being rested.

Other players who had an injury designation on Wednesday were linebacker Ernest Jones IV (shoulder) and safety Julian Love (groin) were limited in practice. Defensive tackle Jarran Reed has a back issue and was also limited.
