Joe Gomez has been shown support by several of his Liverpool teammates after his latest post on social media. The Reds defender will be aiming to be part of the squad that faces Burnley in the Premier League this weekend.
Gomez was heavily linked with a move away from Liverpool during the final days of the summer transfer window. The defender was the subject of interest from Brighton and AC Milan before the transfer window closed, but Gomez ended up remaining at Anfield despite the speculation.
Last season saw Gomez spend a large portion of the campaign on the sidelines with injury. The 27-year-old made his return to the matchday squad for the Premier League opener against Bournemouth, almost more than six months after his previous appearance for the club which came back in February.
On Thursday, Gomez posted a photo from Liverpool's latest training session. The post did not include a caption and had three photos, including one alongside Jeremie Frimpong, who has been recovering from a muscle injury during the international break.
Frimpong left a comment on the post which read: "My guy" accompanied by a red love heart emoji. Frimpong also liked Gomez's post, as did Virgil van Dijk, Wataru Endo, Cody Gakpo, Alexis Mac Allister, Curtis Jones, Rio Ngumoha and Jayden Danns.
Former Liverpool stars Darwin Nunez, Kostas Tsimikas, Jordan Henderson, Tyler Morton, Luis Diaz and Caoimhin Kelleher also liked the post from Gomez.
Gomez is yet to be handed a start by Arne Slot for Liverpool this season. With the Reds having seven matches over the next three weeks, Gomez could be in line to get plenty of minutes under his belt before the next international break.
