25yo Arsenal star was offered to Bayern Munich by Jorge Mendes' agency

Arsenal midfielder Fabio Vieira was offered to Bayern Munich through Jorge Mendes’ agency, according to German publication BILD.

The 25-year-old spent the previous campaign on loan with Porto, where he registered 11 goal contributions in all competitions.

Vieira was touted to leave the Gunners on a permanent basis this summer, but he eventually joined Hamburg on loan with a €20 million buy clause.

The Portuguese is set to make his Bundesliga debut against Bayern, but BILD claim that the playmaker initially had the desire to join the German champions.

Jorge Mendes’ agency Gestifute, which represents Vieira, had offered his services to the Bavarian giants, but the club decided against making a proposal.

Bayern’s stance on Vieira was justifiable

Vieira signed for the Gunners from Porto in the summer of 2022 with a glowing reputation.

He had a good breakthrough season with the Primeira Liga outfit, where he impressed with regular goal contributions from the number 10 and right wing roles.

However, the Portuguese could not find the same consistency at Arsenal. He found himself as a regular figure on the bench and also picked up untimely injuries.

Gunners boss Mikel Arteta also had concerns over his poor performances in training, which eventually contributed to him becoming surplus to requirements.

Vieira found some form with Porto with six goals and five assists last term, but that was not enough to persuade Bayern into making a summer swoop for him.

Their decision was justifiable. Despite Jamal Musiala’s serious injury, Bayern did not feel Vieira would play a meaningful part under manager Vincent Kompany.

Arsenal will hope that Vieira can come good at Hamburg so that he can join them permanently. He would become their record signing if that were to happen.
