Report: How Eddie Howe is feeling behind the scenes at Newcastle United now

Eddie Howe is excited about a new-look Newcastle United team as the Premier League returns.

So much has happened since Newcastle United played Leeds before the international break.

Indeed, Alexander Isak has left Newcastle for Liverpool in acrimonious circumstances, while Yoane Wissa has joined the club.

Nick Woltemade was in the stands at Elland Road but was unable to feature as he was not registered in time. Now, the German international is raring to go.

While few would doubt the club endured a difficult summer transfer window, they ended it in positive fashion. Clearly, losing Isak in the manner in which they did was a bitter blow, but Newcastle have brought immediate goals and a huge amount of potential in the form of Wissa and Woltemade respectively.

As such, Howe is reportedly excited.

Eddie Howe excited about new-look Newcastle United team

According to Luke Edwards in The Daily Telegraph, Howe is upbeat and positive about the club’s current situation.

They can move on from the Isak saga and instead look ahead to something of a new era for the team.

The report adds that if Howe was being honest, he would probably admit that letting Isak go after such a media circus came as a relief towards the end.

Indeed, the Newcastle United manager led his team to their greatest season in living memory last time out and that came after an equally difficult summer in 2024.

Howe, on paper at least, has a much stronger squad this season compared to last.

Eddie Howe vindicated as PIF prove him right at Newcastle United

This summer, there were doubts about PIF’s ambition at Newcastle.

For the first real time, the Newcastle United owners were being questioned on footballing matters as the club missed out on key transfer targets all while Isak was making it clear he wanted to leave.

Still, Howe insisted PIF remained ambitious at Newcastle and the owners certainly proved that.

They paid an awful lot of money to bring Wissa and Woltemade in, as well as the other summer signings this summer.

It remains to be seen how it all works, of course, but there can be little doubt that PIF are still ready to fund the Newcastle project.
