Former NBA big man Jason Collins, who most notably spent time with the New Jersey Nets and the Atlanta Hawks during his 13-year career, is reportedly battling a brain tumor.
The league announced the news on Thursday via social media, relaying a statement on behalf of Collins and his family:
"NBA Ambassador and 13-year NBA veteran Jason Collins is currently undergoing treatment for a brain tumor. Jason and his family welcome your support and prayers and kindly ask for privacy as they dedicate their attention to Jason's health and well-being."
In the wake of the announcement, the NBA community has rallied around Collins and his family during this difficult time.

Collins famously graced the cover of Time Magazine back in 2014, when he was named one of the "100 Most Influential People in the World" for becoming the first openly gay athlete to play in the NBA, NFL, MLB, or NHL.
At the time, Collins came out during an interview with Sports Illustrated where he explained:
"I didn't set out to be the first openly gay athlete playing in a major American team sport. But since I am, I'm happy to start the conversation.
"I wish I wasn't the kid in the classroom raising his hand and saying, "I'm different." If I had my way, someone else would have already done this. Nobody has, which is why I'm raising my hand."
After being named a McDonald's All-American in 1997, Collins was drafted 18th overall in the 2001 NBA Draft by the Houston Rockets.
Throughout his career he posted averages of 3.6 points and 3.7 rebounds per game, averaging a career-high of 6.4 points and 6.1 rebounds with the Nets during the 2004-05 season.
