Two veteran starters return to Patriots practice

FOXBOROUGH – The Patriots received some good news at Thursday’s practice.

A day after missing multiple starters, the Patriots saw right tackle Morgan Moses (foot) and edge rusher Harold Landry (foot) return to practice. This is a good sign when it comes to their availability for Sunday’s Week 2 matchup against the Miami Dolphins.

Although those two veterans returned, the team is still waiting for its top cornerback as Christian Gonzalez remains out with a hamstring injury. Keion White (illness) was also absent, missing his second straight practice.

It will help the offense to have Moses on Sunday. The Patriots will take on a Dolphins team with four above-average pass rushers: Bradley Chubb (11 sacks last season), Zach Sieler (10 sacks), Chop Robinson (6 sacks), and Matthew Judon (5.5 sacks).

The Patriots’ offensive line allowed four sacks and nine quarterback hits last week. The last thing they need is for a starting tackle like Moses to be out.

On defense, Landry led the Patriots with 2.5 sacks against the Las Vegas Raiders. That performance put Landry in the record books as he set a franchise record for the most sacks in a player’s Patriots debut. The previous record was held by Chris Singleton (1990) and James Harrison (2017) with two sacks.
