The Philadelphia Eagles will be in action against the Kansas City Chiefs on Sunday in a rematch from last year's Super Bowl that the Eagles controlled from the very beginning en route to the 40-22 victory.
The Eagles got the run for a repeat started in Week 1 with a tougher than expected 24-20 victory that saw the offense struggle. They finished with only 302 yards of offense, and didn't resemble the offensive attack that helped lead them to that Super Bowl championship.
As they head into the game against the Chiefs, they are also having to deal with some injury issues as Dallas Goedert missed his second straight practice due to a knee injury.
The Eagles lacked any type of explosive plays in Week 1, as quarterback Jalen Hurts was 19-of-23 passing, but for only 152 yards.
Goedert was by far his favorite target on the night, as he finished with seven catches for 44 yards. The star duo of AJ Brown (one catch, eight yards) and DeVonta Smith (three catches,16 yards) were held in check for the entire night.
Thursday practices are usually a telling sign on whether or not a player is going to play. With Goedert missing the last two practices, it is looking more and more likely that he will be unable to go. If he is indeed out in Week 2, then Grant Calcaterra and Kylen Granson will be called upon to play more.
The Eagles figure to have a chance to get that passing attack rolling, as the Chiefs really struggled to stop Justin Herbert and the Los Angeles Chargers in Week 1.
Herbert played one of the best games of his career, as he went 25-of-34 for 318 yards and three touchdowns. There were constant breakdowns in the Chiefs secondary, and the Chargers had players open throughout the entire game
Sunday is a huge game for both teams, but the Eagles figure to get the absolute best the Chiefs can offer. They will be looking for some revenge from the Super Bowl loss, and in such a competitive AFC, they can ill-afford to fall to 0-2 on the season.
Whoever is playing tight end for the Eagles, they figure to get opportunities as the Chiefs load the box to stop Barkey and the rushing attack.
Kickoff between the two teams is scheduled for 4:25 p.m. ET, and the game will be aired on Fox.
