Bowers brought in five receptions for 103 yards before he was pulled from the game. It appeared that he suffered a serious non-contact injury, and it was revealed that he tweaked his knee.
Bowers himself told reporters that he was "fine," and there was little to be concerned about. He was also given a "day-to-day" return status.
Now, it appears that Bowers' injury might be a bit more serious than expected, as he did not engage in practice ahead of the Raiders' showdown with the Los Angeles Chargers on Monday.
Raiders reporter Ryan McFadden indicated that Bowers was on the sidelines observing the stretch period, but he did not engage in practice.
Once the first injury report comes out for the Chargers matchup, it will likely be reported that Bowers was given a DNP (did not practice) designation. One DNP does not mean that he will miss the game, but being held out of practice is never a good thing.
The Raiders' final injury report is due on Saturday. If Bowers is given a DNP, then it would more than likely mean that he will not play on Monday.
Bowers put together an incredible rookie season in 2024, securing 112 receptions for 1,194 yards and five touchdowns. His 112 receptions are now the record for most catches by a rookie player.
Bowers was named an All-Pro and a Pro Bowl in his first season with the Raiders and is considered one of the best tight ends in the NFL.
The Raiders losing Bowers for an extended period would be tough to deal with, so its likely they are going to take their time with allowing him back on the field. Even if the knee injury he suffered is not significant enough to keep him out for weeks, the team may choose caution so it doesn't turn into anything more serious.
