Ange Postecoglou admits 'it is not easy' joining Nottingham Forest mid-season

Ange Postecoglou has admitted that it is not difficult to take over a team mid-season, days after being confirmed as Nottingham Forest's new boss.

The Australian has been out of work since June, following his sacking by Tottenham Hotspur, but was swiftly appointed at The City Ground following the shock dismissal of Nuno Espirito Santo.

With just four days separating his appointment from the first game of his Forest tenure, away to familiar foes Arsenal on Saturday, time is of the essence as Postecoglou looks to implement his ideas.

Postecoglou has also had to contend with the added issue of having players arrive back in Nottingham at different times due to the international break, further hampering any potential preparations.

The 60-year-old conceded that the timing is not easy for any manager to arrive at a new club, but that he is ready to embrace the challenge.

"It's not easy, and that's why you're not sitting up here and I am," he said. "Because it takes a little bit of expertise. All of us managers have our own way of doing it.

"I love that challenge and I think it's what really excites me because I've got to convince every person in the building about what we're trying to do on the back of them doing something a certain way and having success that way."

A realist, Postecoglou was also keen to emphasise that a change of regime requires patience, and that Forest fans should not expect to see immediate results, though he did insist that competitiveness is a non-negotiable.

"But that's [preparing the team is] up to me, it's what I do," he said. "I think it's fair to say it's not going to happen overnight; it's crazy to think it will.

"It's a process that will take a little bit of time, but never at the expense of competitiveness.

"There's nothing that's going to get in the way, none of my principles, none of my beliefs are going to get in the way of us making sure that the team is prepared to win, I won't compromise"
