After a shock injury to Lucas Perri during the week, Leeds United keeper Illan Meslier could be back in the matchday squad this weekend. The Whites are away to Fulham in the Premier League.
Daniel Farke’s side will be hoping to continue the form they took into the international break. Karl Darlow could be set to start when the game on Saturday kicks off, with Illan Meslier more likely to be on the bench.

His situation is kind of unique, as it has been revealed that no suitable offers came during the English window. Clubs like Como, Lorient and Valencia all had an eye on the Leeds stopper. Whites legend Tony Dorigo has been speaking about Meslier’s situation, where he hinted that Daniel Farke played a part. According to Dorigo, dropping the French keeper derailed him over the past few months, even if it was the right choice.
“Goalkeeper’s a unique position, they certainly need backing. They need a run of games.” he told the Yorkshire Post.
“Illan will say himself, last season he got backing but made mistakes. You keep backing your goalkeeper bit eventually, I think it was one mistake too many. The manager changed it.”
The former Leeds man says the arrival of compteition in the former of Darlow and Perri will make it difficult for Meslier to make a comeback to the lineup.
“Karl Darlow came in at the end of last season and didn’t make mistakes, just solid, superb, and got through. You can see why [the change was made].
“You’re coming up to the Premier League, you’re looking to improve in every single position. We’ve gone out and bought Lucas Perri. That’s what happens in football and every player understands that.
“What you then want to do, of course, is let them go somewhere and get on with things, improve and get back to playing. I think that’s the difficulty so far.”
