Eagles star’s status vs. Chiefs in question after latest injury news

Dallas Goedert’s status for the Eagles’ game against the Chiefs is very much in question.

The Eagles starting tight end did not practice for the second straight day on Thursday. Goedert is dealing with a knee injury, per the Eagles’ availability report.

Goedert hasn’t been declared out for Sunday’s game in Kansas City. But it’s not looking good.

If Goedert can’t play against the Chiefs, the Eagles’ top tight ends would be Grant Calcaterra and Kylen Granson. E.J. Jenkins and Cameron Latu are also on the practice squad.

Goedert has been a key figure in Philadelphia’s passing game over his eight-year NFL career, and that was the case again during last Thursday’s season opener against the Cowboys. Goedert’s seven receptions in the 24-20 win over Dallas led all Eagles players.

When he’s out there, Goedert is an integral piece to the Eagles’ puzzle. But injuries have hampered his career since being a second-round draft pick in 2018. Just last season, Goedert missed seven games; the Eagles, notably, went 6-1 in those games.

Goedert and Eagles fans alike were hoping for an injury-free 2025 season, as it very well could be his last in Philadelphia. There were reports this offseason that the Eagles were considering trading the longtime tight end. Instead, he agreed to a restructured one-year deal in May.
