Seahawks Injury Report: 2 Pro Bowl DBs held out of practice

The Seattle Seahawks have some serious concerns in their secondary going into a Week 2 matchup against DK Metcalf, Aaron Rodgers and the Pittsburgh Steelers.

On Thursday, cornerback Devon Witherspoon again did not practice. And he wasn’t the only Pro Bowl defensive back the Seahawks held out. Safety Julian Love was also listed as a DNP.

Stacy Rost: Three big questions for Seattle Seahawks in Week 2

Witherspoon, who also sat the team’s first practice of the week on Wednesday, has a knee injury. The Seahawks signed veteran corner Shaquill Griffin off of their practice squad Thursday with Witherspoon’s status in question.

Love, who was limited Wednesday before not practicing Thursday, has a groin injury.

Also out Thursday was rookie Nick Emmanwori, who suffered a high-ankle sprain in last Sunday’s loss to the 49ers and was never considered likely to play in Week 2. Seahawks coach Mike Macdonald said Wednesday that the team would use the week to determine if Emmanwori would require a stint on injured reserve, which would rule him out for the next four games.

One other Seahawks defender did not practice Thursday: veteran defensive tackle Jarran Reed, who was limited the day prior with a back injury.

There is good news for Seattle, though. Outside linebacker Uchenna Nwosu, who is working back from offseason knee surgery, and wide receiver Jake Bobo, who is coming back from a concussion, were both full participants in practice for the second straight day after they did not play in Week 1.

Linebacker Ernest Jones (shoulder) and wide receiver Dareke Young (hamstring) were also full participants Thursday after they were limited Wednesday.

The Seahawks (0-1) will play the Steelers (1-0) at 10 a.m. Sunday. Radio coverage on Seattle Sports will begin at 7 a.m. with the pregame show.
