**With Nicolas Fullkrug out injured, West Han simply must give exciting youngster a fair shot.**
In perhaps the least surprising piece of news this year, Nicolas Fullkrug is injured. This means Graham Potter has lost the man he hyped up to be his main No.9 this season.
As backup, he’s got Callum Wilson who, despite fan reaction to his signing, is actually looking like a great option.
However, with his injury record and age, he simply can not play a full 90 every week in the German’s absence.
With supporters desperate to see the youth get some action, Graham Potter would be foolish to not give Callum Marshall a chance over the coming weeks.
In preseason, Marshall looked absolutely class, fitting right in with the senior players and grabbing a few goals. Since then though, he’s hardly had a sniff.
It’s only fair that someone who’s performed well at youth level, in the Championship, and in preseason gets a fair crack of the whip. We’re desperate for a long-term solution to our striker problems, but there’s every chance he’s sitting right under our nose, patiently waiting for his time to shine.
It would be a real wasted opportunity to not give him minutes while Fullkrug is injured, and I’m not just talking about 5 minute cameos. He needs a decent amount of time to show his worth and adjust to the Premier League. We’re desperate for something to make us fall back in love with the club, some youth talent getting minutes and performing well could just do it.
