Marshon Lattimore gets roasted over his awful start to ‘TNF’ game

The falloff appears to be real for veteran cornerback Marshon Lattimore.

Lattimore, who is in his second season with the Washington Commanders, had a horrific start to Thursday’s Week 2 game against the Green Bay Packers. Within the opening minutes of the first quarter at Lambeau Field in Green Bay, Wisc., Lattimore was successfully targeted several times by the Packers.

The 29-year-old cornerback managed to give up two pass completions to Green Bay receiver Dontayvion Wicks and was also called for a defensive holding on Romeo Doubs … all by the 11:46 mark of the first quarter.

Lattimore proceeded to get roasted over social media for the brutal start, so much so that he even briefly became a top trending topic on X. Take a look at some of the posts clowning Lattimore.

Fortunately for Lattimore, he got bailed out as Green Bay came away with no points on their opening drive after failing to convert on a 4th-and-3 from Washington’s 33-yard line. But that won’t make Commanders fans feel much better about their team’s investment in Lattimore.

With the New Orleans Saints earlier in his career, Lattimore was one of the NFL’s elite corners, making four Pro Bowl teams from 2017-21. The Saints then traded Lattimore to the Commanders in the middle of last season for a net two draft picks, only for Lattimore to miss time with injury and make just five appearances for Washington to close out the year (regular season and playoffs).

While Lattimore did have a nice 2025 season debut against New York Giants receiver Malik Nabers during a Week 1 victory for the Commanders, his inconsistency combined with a natural decline in his physical abilities continue to make Lattimore a very frustrating player. Lattimore is also known for fighting with opponents when things don’t go his way, and things certainly weren’t going his way on Thursday against the Packers.
