Manchester City and Manchester United lock horns at the Etihad Stadium this weekend in the Premier League

Manchester City head into the game having made a slow start to the new Premier League season. Pep Guardiola’s side won away at Wolves on the opening day and everything looked rosy for them after their victory at Molineux. However, they have since lost their last two matches on the spin against Tottenham Hotspur and Brighton and Hove Albion.

As for Manchester United, they were narrowly beaten 1-0 at Old Trafford by Arsenal in their first fixture. The Red Devils then drew 1-1 against Fulham at Craven Cottage. Ruben Amorim’s side then picked up their first three points last time out before the international break against Burnley on their own patch courtesy of Bruno Fernandes’ late penalty.

Roy Keane predicts Manchester City vs Manchester United scoreline

Former United man Roy Keane has predicted the Red Devils to get a draw against City. Speaking on the latest episode of Stick to Football, he believes his ex-team can pick up a result against their rivals. He initially went for a 2-2 scoreline before changing to 1-1. Meanwhile, Jamie Carragher said: “3-1 City.”

Amorim’s side are still getting to grips with the new campaign. It was a summer of transition for them and they saw a host of new faces come into the squad. They delved into the transfer market to bring in the likes of Benjamin Sesko, Matheus Cunha and Bryan Mbeumo, among others.

The latter has impressed since his switch from fellow top flight outfit Brentford. He is a proven goal scorer at the top level and was a real hit during his time with the Bees. The forward has adapted well to life with his new team and will be eyeing more goals over the coming weeks and months after his useful start.

Manchester United latest after Burnley win

United should be in confident mood after their win over Burnley. They dug deep to get their much needed victory over the newly promoted Clarets. Had they failed to beat them, they would have been winless after the opening month and there would have been some pressure mounting from the fans.

Speaking after their game against Scott Parker’s men, Amorim said: "When they (players) put the effort, I will always love them. Even when Amad is missing that goal - I love Amad, if he's giving everything. We need to understand that we always need to be at this level of effort. Because even in the game, we played well in the beginning. I think we struggled when we changed the characteristics of the players because the match is not so perfect and you can feel the players struggle a little bit, even in the second half but the effort was always there.

"We tried to put people in the box. We tried to put more people inside the box, not just around the box to play the ball. Some of the things we were doing during the week and spoke about they were doing that and were focused on the game. So that is the most important thing."
