There is absolutely no doubt that Jayden Daniels has come into the NFL and taken the league by storm. The second-year quarterback out of LSU will take his talents to Lambeau Field Thursday night and take on the Green Bay Packers, as part of the Week 2 slate.

The Washington Commanders and Packers both come into the game 1-0 after beating divisional opponents in their Week 1 games. Daniels’ Commanders topped the New York Giants 21-6, while the Packers took down the Detroit Lions 27-13.

When Daniels takes the field, the 24-year-old signal caller has a chance to make NFL history.

According to the Commander’s reporter from The Athletic, Nicki Jhabvala:

“With 199 passing yards and 41 rushing yards at Green Bay tonight, Jayden Daniels will become the first player in NFL history to record 4,000 passing yards and 1,000 rushing yards in his first 20 career games.”

Daniels started the season throwing for 233 yards and a touchdown in the win over the Giants. The lone touchdown pass went to his veteran tight end, Zach Ertz. Daniels also added 11 carries in the game and came away with 68 yards.

The second overall pick in the 2024 draft finished the previous season with 25 touchdowns and nine interceptions via the pass. He added six rushing touchdowns. Daniels completed 69% of his passes in his rookie season, for 3,568 yards.

There are only eight quarterbacks with 4,000 passing yards and 1,000 rushing yards in their first two seasons. Barring injury, Daniels will be the ninth. Cam Newton leads the list with 7,920 passing yards and 1,447 rushing yards through 32 games.

Robert Griffin III is next with 6,403 passing yards and 1,304 rushing yards in 28 games. After those two, the list is as follows:

While those are all regular-season games and statistics, Daniels also has postseason statistics. He played in three postseason games last season and finished with an additional 822 passing yards and five touchdowns. He also added 135 rushing yards and a score.

Thursday night, he will take on a Packers defense that held Detroit to just 13 points in the game. Micah Parsons played his first game with the organization and recorded a sack on Jared Goff late in the game.

Following the “Thursday Night Football” game, the Commanders will head back home and take on Pete Carroll’s Las Vegas Raiders on Sept. 21.
