Manchester United have a decision to make regarding the long-term future of the player
Manchester United are back in Premier League action this weekend following the international break. The Red Devils beat Burnley 3-2 at Old Trafford last time out after Bruno Fernandes’ late penalty and will be itching to return. Ruben Amorim’s side have four points on the board from their first three fixtures of the new season.
They face a tricky away trip to the Etihad Stadium on Sunday to play rivals Manchester City. Amorim’s men will have to be at their best to get something. However, they will be confident with City having lost their last two outings on the spin against Tottenham Hotspur and Brighton and Hove Albion.
Manchester United update regarding Tyrell Malacia
Tyrell Malacia is facing an uncertain long-term future at Manchester United. The left-back has fallen out of favour over recent times. He is surplus to requirements and is out of contract at the end of the campaign.
The Red Devils risk losing him for free in June 2026 if they don’t cash in on him now or in January, assuming he doesn’t pen a surprise extension in the meantime. In this latest update regarding his situation by talkSPORT reporter Alex Crook, he isn’t keen on a move to Eyuspor and is ‘determined’ to stay.
Journalist Crook has posted on X: “Malacia not overly keen by all accounts. Another player lucky to jump on the #MUFC gravy train and determined to cling on.”
Malacia, 26, was snapped up by United back in 2022 under former manager Erik ten Hag. However, he hasn’t been able to make the impact he would have wanted to in England. He has had issues with injuries though.
The left-back rose up through the academy at Feyenoord and was a regular for the Dutch giants at various different youth levels before breaking into their first-team. He made 137 appearances for the Eredivisie outfit before United came calling.
Malacia has since featured on 47 occasions for his current club, eight of which came last term. He was loaned out to PSV back in January. The Dutchman played nine times during his time in Rotterdam.
What now for Tyrell Malacia?
Eyupspor are interested in landing Malacia at the moment. He would be able to get some regular game time in the Turkish Super Lig. However, he isn’t said to be open to going there. They saw ex-head coach Arda Turan depart in the summer for a new challenge at Shakhtar Donetsk.
After joining United two years ago, he said at the time: "It's an incredible feeling to have joined. This is a new chapter for me, a new league with new team-mates and a tremendous manager leading us. I know from playing against his teams in the Eredivisie, the qualities that he has and what he demands of his players.
"While I know that I am still young and will continue to develop, I can promise the United fans that I will leave everything on the pitch every time I pull on the red shirt."
