Huskers vs. Huskies: Our best bets, over/under picks for Nebraska game

Matt Rhule likened Nebraska's schedule to the NFL in which the Huskers have three preseason games before gearing up for Big Ten play.

In that case, Saturday represents the Huskers' final tune-up, as FCS program Houston Christian comes to town for an 11 a.m. kickoff.

Many are expecting a blowout like last week ... or even bigger. The Journal Star crew calls our shot.

GAME PREDICTIONS

How full will Memorial Stadium be for the first 11 a.m. kickoff of the season?

Amie Just, columnist: 85% but still announced a sellout.

Luke Mullin, reporter: The upper rows of the stadium are light at kickoff, but it's a packed house by noon.

Nate Head, editor: There will be room for some fans to stretch their legs for the first couple of minutes, but by midway through the first quarter, it'll be the traditionally full house.

In which area of the game will Nebraska look the best against an FCS opponent?

Just: Pass defense.

Mullin: Nebraska again controls the line of scrimmage with its offensive line leading the way.

Head: The Blackshirts haven't generated a lot of pass rush through two games this season. It would be nice to see NU get to Houston Christian quarterback Jake Weir a few times.

Predict how Dylan Raiola, fresh off his first 300-yard passing performance, will fare.

Just: Nebraska has a big enough lead to pull him around halftime after throwing for 250 yards or so.

Mullin: Raiola does it again, crossing the 300-yard threshold for the second week in a row — though with fewer touchdowns.

Head: Another 300-yard game, sending him into Big Ten play with some legitimate stats.

Who finishes the game as Nebraska's leading tackler?

Just: DeShon Singleton.

Mullin: Freshman linebacker Dawson Merritt, who racks up the tackles after halftime.

Head: Rex Guthrie.
