Crystal Palace have some decisions to make on the contract front ahead of next summer
Crystal Palace have made a solid start to the new Premier League season. They have five points on the board from their first three fixtures. The South London club drew with Chelsea away and Nottingham Forest at home in their first two games.
The Eagles then won 3-0 against Aston Villa last time out. Jean-Philippe Mateta, Marc Guehi and Ismaila Sarr got their goals at Villa Park as they secured an impressive three points. They are back in action after the international break as they look to keep their momentum going. Here is a look at four players who are out of contract next summer...
Crystal Palace risk losing Marc Guehi
Marc Guehi: Crystal Palace somehow managed to keep hold of thier star centre-back beyond the deadline of the past transfer window. However, his long-term future continues to be up in the air at this stage. He is wanted by Liverpool and they have the chance to move for him again in January.
Guehi, 25, sees his deal expire in late June. He is due to become a free agent as things stand. Therefore, his current club risk losing him for nothing which would be a blow if they don’t cash in on him in the meantime.
Nathaniel Clyne: He rose up through the Eagles’ academy ranks as a youngster before breaking into their first-team. The right-back then left for spells at Southampton, Liverpool and AFC Bournemouth before moving back in 2020. He has been a great servant to the club but at the age of 34, his days may be limited in football now.
Jefferson Lerma: Crystal Palace have a decision to make regarding his long-term situation. He was signed from Bournemouth in 2023 and provides more competition and depth to their midfield ranks. The Colombia international, who has 58 caps to his name, has made 79 appearances in all competitions, but it remains to be seen whether he will still be with them come this time next year.
More of Crystal Palace’s soon-to-be out of contract players
Daicha Kamada: Crystal Palace handed him a two-year deal when they signed him just over 12 months ago. He became their first ever Japanese player and is a useful asset to have in and around the squad. The attacking midfielder scored two goals in 45 outings.
After joining, he said at the time: “I’m excited to be joining Crystal Palace, and to be working with Oliver – who is a coach I know well – again. I am looking forward to testing myself in the Premier League, and hopefully the club and I can achieve all of our objectives together.”
Nauouirou Ahamada: Most signs point towards the Eagles cutting ties with the 23-year-old. He is down the pecking order under Oliver Glasner and should pursue a permanent exit to get some minutes elsewhere. The Frenchman was loaned out to Rennes last term. Prior to his transfer to England, he caught the eye playing in the Bundesliga for Stuttgart but his move hasn’t quite gone to plan.
