Applicant Cornerstone acknowledged that the mast would be 156 yards from St Peter's Collegiate School, and 164 yards from St Edmund's Catholic Academy. But it said both schools had been consulted, and to date no objections had been received.
"Furthermore, due to the distance separation and intervening vegetation between the proposed installation and the schools, it is considered that any visual impact will be minimal," the report added.
The mast, which will be used to support 5G mobile coverage in the area, will include six antennae, and two 12in satellite dishes, and two equipment cabins.
Mr Sahota said that while the height of the mast was noted, there were mitigating factors which meant it would not have an undue impact on the appearance of the area.
"Set against the backdrop of sporting facilities and adjacent existing street furniture, the proposal is considered to be acceptable in respect of its impact on visual amenities and is in accordance with approved policies.
