Celtics could make another big move after busy offseason

Boston Celtics have already seen major roster changes this offseason, and reports suggest another move could be coming.

Boston Celtics have been one of the most active teams this offseason, with several key pieces from last year’s championship roster moving on. But according to reports, more changes could still be coming.

Anfernee Simons

Age: 26

Height: 193 cm

Weight: 83 kg

Birth place: Florida, United States of America

Celtics have already seen the departures of Jrue Holiday, Kristaps Porzingis, Luke Kornet, and Al Horford — all important contributors to their 2024 title run.

In return, Boston brought in Anfernee Simons from the Portland Trail Blazers in the Holiday deal, but his future with the team remains uncertain.

Sports Illustrated’s Chris Mannix pointed out that Boston could still make another move as the front office looks at financial flexibility.

“If they make one more move, it wouldn't surprise me. Right now, they're under the first apron. They're almost under the tax,” Mannix said. “If they make one more move, if they can find anybody who will take the contract of Anfernee Simons...that will set them up for success in 2026 and beyond.”

Simons, who averaged 19.3 points per game last season, was expected to play a big role in Boston’s offense following the wave of departures. However, speculation quickly surfaced that the guard might be flipped again before the season tips off.
