Memphis Grizzlies star Ja Morant has not been reading the NBA headlines of late.
The All-Star point guard was talking to his fans on a live stream earlier this week. One spectator tried to make a joke about Morant joining a “tree company” that he owns, which poked fun at the ongoing Kawhi Leonard scandal that has rocked the NBA community of late. The joke flew right over Morant’s head.
“‘Ja, I’ve got a tree company if you want to come on board,'” Morant said, reading the fan’s message to him aloud. “What kind of tree are you talking about, bro? What kind of tree bro talking about? Bro’s wildin’ over here.”
Someone really asked Ja Morant if he wanted to join their tree company and he did not get the joke 😅
“What kind of tree you talking about bro?”

The Los Angeles Clippers are currently under investigation over allegations that they circumvented the salary cap to pay Leonard money under the table.
The recent reports from sports journalist Pablo Torre pointed to Clippers head coach Steve Ballmer’s investment in a now-bankrupt company called Aspiration, which did plant trees as part of its mission to offset carbon emissions.
Grizzlies fans may be able to take some solace in Morant not knowing anything about the Aspiration fiasco. The high-flying guard appears to be staying out of trouble after he himself became the subject of several controversies over the last few seasons.
