Packers fans take issue with NFL Insider posting video of Jayden Reed’s brutal 1st-quarter…

The play didn’t even count. Packers receiver Jayden Reed suffered a serious injury hauling in a 39-yard touchdown pass nullified by a holding penalty (tackle Anthony Belton). That hurts, and it’s obviously a lot worse for Reed, who went to the locker room moments later and did not return to the game.

After watching the play, few had high hopes for good news on Reed. Matt LaFleur confirmed those fears when he told reporters postgame that Reed had broken his collarbone. Needless to say, he will miss multiple weeks. Reed does, at least, have a shot to return this season, LaFleur said. If fans want a silver lining, there’s one. Such an early-season injury keeps a comeback in play, which would not be the case if it had happened in, say Week 18. That, of course, would be when Christian Watson tore his ACL last year.

Silver lining or not, it’s deflating to see anyone go down so soon on the schedule. In fact, Packers fans don’t want to see this play again, period, as some made clear on social media responding to Adam Schefter’s video post showing the incident.

Packers fans annoyed with NFL insider over Reed injury post

The combined impact of the ground and the defender driving him into it could not lead to anything good. Reed’s right shoulder sustained a brutal amount of force. The Green Bay receiver got up cushioning his right arm gingerly and went down in pain on the sideline. Making his way to the locker room, Reed was visibly frustrated.

Having seen it live, followed by several replays, some observers found it unnecessary to post a video of the injury after LaFleur announced the diagnosis.

We all saw it the first time schefter

Why would you post this again? @AdamSchefter

Genuine question why do you post these

There may or may not have been a comment referencing “injury porn.”

Obviously, reviewing the play would be helpful to someone who did not watch the game in real time, but being irked by the post is understandable. Really. We don’t need to see it again. We can read a headline and search out a video in the slums of Reddit.

Anyway, Reed’s injury takes some of the air out of another dominant Packers win. The 27-18 final score does not reflect the fathoms that separated the two teams in the first half. Tucker Kraft went ballistic in the game of his career. Off to a 2-0 start, Green Bay travels to Cleveland on September 21.

In the meantime, they will have to rework the receiver hierarchy missing two of their top passcatchers, Reed and Watson. Last season, Reed led the group in both catches and yards; even though he is not a typical WR1, the team will feel his loss.

Jordan Love did a good job on Thursday involving different receivers. Already a point of emphasis, having other guys step up week-to-week in the receiver room will now be more important than ever.
