Yoane Wissa has been for a scan ahead of making his Newcastle United debut this weekend.
Newcastle United new signing Yoane Wissa suffered an injury scare whilst on international duty with DR Congo.
Wissa completed his £55million transfer to St James’ Park on deadline day before linking up with his country ahead of World Cup qualifiers against South Sudan and Senegal.
The 29-year-old marked his first appearance of the new campaign with a goal in a 4-1 victory in South Sudan. He played 62 minutes and kept his place in the starting line-up for the home match against Senegal four days later.
And Wissa was on the scoresheet again to put DR Congo 2-0 up, however, the result ended in heartbreak as Senegal won 3-2 with an 87th-minute winner from Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Pape Matar Sarr.
The goal came just over 10 minutes after Wissa was forced to withdraw after a feeling a knee issue.
Yoane Wissa passed fit to make Newcastle United debut vs Wolverhampton Wanderers
As per Mail Sport, Wissa arrived back in Newcastle on Thursday and was immediately checked by Newcastle’s medical staff, which included being sent for a scan.
And the results are said to have come back clear, meaning the player is in line to make his Magpies debut in Saturday’s Premier League clash against Wolverhampton Wanderers at St James’ Park. He is expected to train with his new teammates for the first time today.
It’ll also be the first club match Wissa has featured in since the final day of last season after he was left out of Brentford’s matchday squad for their opening four matches as he pushed to make the move to Tyneside.
What Yoane Wissa has said about his move to Newcastle United
Reacting to his move to Newcastle, Wissa said: "I'm really happy to be here and to sign for one of the biggest clubs in the Premier League. I'm very, very excited to put on the black and white shirt. I've got dreams, I've got faith and now I will do my best to make it all happen. I can't wait to get started."

Meanwhile, Newcastle head coach Eddie Howe added: "Yoane is a player who we have admired for some time and we're delighted to have him on board.
"He brings proven Premier League quality, demonstrated not only by his goalscoring output but also the crucial work he does for the team. Yoane's style of play will excite our supporters and complement our style of play - he has pace, power and an excellent work rate. He immediately makes us stronger."
Yoane Wissa or Nick Woltemade?
That’s the big question, and one we’ll only know the answer to come 1:45pm on Saturday afternoon.
£69million club-record signing Nick Woltemade has been training with his new teammates since Tuesday after finishing up international duty with Germany on Sunday night, whereas Wissa won’t train until Friday.
But Howe, after the goalless draw at Leeds United, stressed that Woltemade needs time to adapt from the Bundesliga to the Premier League, whereas Wissa has no such problem, having scored 19 goals for Brentford last season.
