Marc Bernal’s injury nightmare looks to be finally over as he’s expected to be included in the Barcelona squad to face Valencia on Sunday.
According to Mundo Deportivo, the plan is for Hansi Flick to call him up to the squad for the first time in over a year.
Bernal has been sidelined for a long time after suffering an ACL injury at the start of last season just as he looked set for a huge season.
It’s been a long road back for the youngster, but the end is now in sight and he could even get a few minutes on Sunday at the Estadi Johan Cruyff.
The report adds that Bernal has been eager to return for some time. He wanted to play at the Gamper Trophy but was apparently told by Flick: “I want you for 15 years, not for one game.”
Bernal’s return comes at a time when both Gavi and Frenkie de Jong are sidelined through injury, and ahead of a busy run of fixtures for Barcelona.
