Andre Onana set for huge pay rise after Man Utd exit confirmed

Andre Onana is set to double his earnings at Trabzonspor after finally securing a move away from Manchester United. The Cameroon goalkeeper jetted into Turkey with his wife Melanie on Thursday afternoon to finalise a loan switch to the Turkish Super Lig club, having only made one appearance for United this season, in the shocking Carabao Cup defeat to League Two Grimsby Town.

After suffering a hamstring injury in the summer, Onana was unable to participate in any of United's pre-season matches, with Turkish goalkeeper Altay Bayindir stepping in for the club's three Premier League fixtures so far. Ruben Amorim signed Belgian goalkeeper Senne Lammens from Royal Antwerp on transfer deadline day, and that move, along with Onana's shaky form since his £47.2million transfer from Inter Milan two years ago, effectively sealed the 29-year-old's departure.

However, the Mail reports that there is no option for Trabzonspor to purchase Onana next summer included in the loan deal, and the Turkish club have not paid United a loan fee to secure him for the season,.

Perhaps most surprisingly, the report adds that Onana will double his weekly wages with Trabzonspor covering them in full for the year.

Onana recently saw his wages drop from around £170,000 a week to £120,000 a week - £67,000 a week after tax - due to United failing to qualify for the Champions League, and Turkey has a more favourable tax rate.

United have wished Onana well as he embarks on his loan move, stating: "In his first season at United, Andre was part of the squad that lifted the Emirates FA Cup following a 2-1 victory over Manchester City at Wembley Stadium.

"Onana played 50 times in his second campaign and our no.24 has now agreed a loan move to Trabzonspor. The move has been completed ahead of the Turkish transfer window closing on Friday. We would like to wish Andre good luck."
