‘Ready to do anything’ – Club lining up big attempt to keep player from Sunderland clutches

Earlier this week, Quotidiano Sportivo floated several possibilities regarding Jhon Lucumi’s future, with Bologna managing to fend off Sunderland’s advances in the summer.

There is still uncertainty about whether the defender will accept the Italian club’s offer of a new deal, and the outlet weren’t sure if he would consider a January exit.

Corriere dello Sport now report on the 27-year-old further.

They claim Bologna are ‘ready to do anything’ to keep Lucumi at the club and next week, important talks can be held about a new deal.

The Rossoblu are prepared to increase his current wages and even if they will not match Sunderland’s offer of €3m per season, attempts from sporting director Giovanni Sartori will continue to keep Lucumi at the club.

In the past, the Colombia international’s entourage has turned a deaf ear to proposals of a new contract, but Bologna are now looking to make Lucumi one of the highest paid players at the club in order to convince him about a stay.

The player has returned from international duty and his agent is expected to speak to the Italian side in the next few days.
