Everton and Brighton approaches for Barcelona player revealed – Player fighting to return

Everton, Brighton & Hove Albion and Chelsea had looked at Barcelona’s Marc Bernal in the summer window.

That’s according to Friday’s edition of Mundo Deportivo, who give an insight into clubs that made approaches to sign the 18-year-old.

The defensive midfielder graduated from Barcelona’s famous academy, La Masia, and was promoted to the first team in August 2024.

Later that month, he suffered a serious injury, forcing him to miss rest of last season. His return from a long-term injury didn’t put off Everton, Brighton, Chelsea or other clubs.

The report says the youngster’s continuity at the Camp Nou was questioned, and there were ‘numerous offers’ in the summer window. Mundo immediately mention Everton, Brighton, Chelsea, Valencia, Real Betis and Girona as his suitors.

The Catalan newspaper explain the Premier League and La Liga clubs had all enquired about Bernal, but don’t specify which tabled offers.

It’s claimed Barcelona offered him an opportunity to go out on loan to gain regular playing time, with the possibility of returning in January, but a likelier stay for the season. This may have been attractive for David Moyes’ side and the Seagulls.

Bernal declined and stayed at the Catalan club, and his decision may pay off as Mundo report Hansi Flick could include him in the squad to face Valencia this weekend.
