Aston Villa summer transfer target Lucas Paqueta has suggested he will leave West Ham at the end of this season.
BirminghamLive understands Villa received encouragement from Paqueta to pursue a deal with the Hammers before the latest summer transfer window closed, but they were unable to strike a deal.
Unai Emery was keen to recruit the Brazil international, but he could now revive his interest next summer.
Posting on Instagram, Paqueta explained his decision to stay at the London Stadium.
“It's about choosing those who welcomed you, who never judged you, who believed in you until the very last moment, who loved you and made you feel at home,” he said.
“It's about staying loyal not only when you had everything, but also when there was nothing... it's not time to say goodbye yet! Let's go together for one more season!”
