Eyebrow Raised On Bucs Offense

Bucs QB Baker Mayfield.

Was last week’s ho-hum production by the Bucs offense (aside from Baker Mayfield’s three touchdown passes, including two to Emeka Egbuka) enough to raise questions?

Field Yates of BSPN thinks so, though he’s not jumping off a ledge. Yet.

Yates said that he is feeling a “[tinge of anxiety](https://www.espn.com/video/clip/_/id/46215415)” about the Bucs offense from Sunday. Tampa Bay only had 260 yards of offense, 101 yards on the ground and 159 through the air. Mayfield was the team’s leading rusher with 39 yards.

Not optimal.

Yates has very little regard for Atlanta’s defense.

> “Baker’s good,” Yates said. “He’s really good. But he threw for under 200 yards in Week One against a Falcons defense that I think is an inferior total defense and an inferior pass rush to the defensive the Bucs face this upcoming weekend in Houston.”

All fair points. Add in the fact the Bucs will play a road game for the second straight week, that’s not good.

Still, Joe cannot discount the Bucs shook up the entire left side of the offensive line and had less than two weeks to prepare. Graham Barton, not-that Michael Jordan and Ben Bredeson were all either playing out of position or was a new addition to the starting lineup.

That had to play a factor, in Joe’s mind, to how disjointed the Bucs offense looked at times on Sunday.
