Andre Onana is hoping to get his career back on track in Turkey after joining Trabzonspor on a season-long loan from Manchester United.

The Cameroon international became surplus to requirements at Old Trafford after the Red Devils signed Senne Lammens from Royal Antwerp on transfer deadline day.

Onana reunited with former Ajax head coach Erik ten Hag when he was brought to United in July 2023 following an impressive debut season with Inter Milan, whom he helped reach the 2022-23 UEFA Champions League final.

However, the 29-year-old goalkeeper failed to win over the fans after committing several high-profile errors during his first three years at the club and ultimately lost his place to Altay Bayindir this term.

Onana reportedly sealed his fate after requesting an increase in his wages in the off-season following United’s failure to qualify for Europe’s elite club competition.

The FA Cup winner didn’t aid his cause after being at fault for at least one of the two goals scored by Grimsby Town in the EFL Cup second round on August 27, which Amorim’s side lost 14-13 on penalties.
