**Arsenal legend Ian Wright has raised the prospect of Phil Foden leaving Man City for a new challenge.**
The England international has struggled for form and [**fitness**](https://mancitynews.com/man-city-injury-news-oscar-bobb-2/) over the past twelve months, and Wright says Foden needs to find fresh motivation to continue his playing career:
“When I hear him say that he’s got to find the joy, he’s 25, and he’s won everything that the domestic game has got to offer, he’s at a place now where his club’s transitioning. They’re bringing other players in; he can’t get into the squad. People are constantly questioning his England performances, and he’s sitting there with everything and nothing.”
“It’s in his head now, ‘Can I go again? Can I find the joy? Why did I play in the first place?’ You hope he does, because if it’s not just a dip and you look at what he’s done, people will judge him. He’s at a crossroads. It’s got to be onto themselves. Phil’s been with Pep for the whole time, that might be a bit tiring, he might need to move. It’s a tough one.”
Is leaving Man City a possibility?
----------------------------------
Foden is inside the final two years of his contract at the Etihad Stadium, so he will need to make a decision on his future very soon.
As Wright says, a lot depends on the player. He has won 17 major trophies with the Cityzens, as well as winning individual awards, including the PFA Player of the Year, but he is still only 25, so there is an argument to say that he hasn’t even reached his peak yet. He has to find a way to motivate himself again.
Foden injury latest
-------------------
The attacking midfielder injured his ankle during the 2-0 home defeat to Tottenham last month, and he was not in the matchday squad for the loss to Brighton.
Foden was also not called up for international duty. It is not believed to be a long-term injury, but there are still doubts over whether he will feature against Manchester United this weekend.
