“He wants to kind of be implemented into the group and people not take a backseat to him. That’s his message to a lot of the young guys. Be who you are, continue to grow in those areas, and I’ll fit in where we see necessary,” Udoka said per Danielle Lerner of the Houston Chronicle.
Durant was acquired in a historic seven-team trade that sent Jalen Green, Dillon Brooks, draft rights to Khaman Maluach, and multiple future picks to Phoenix.
The two-time Finals MVP and 15-time All-Star enters his 18th NBA season with career averages of 27.2 points, 7.0 rebounds, and 4.4 assists.
Last season with Phoenix, he posted 26.6 points per game in 62 contests before a late-season ankle injury.
