Indeed, City beat United 6-1 at Old Trafford back in 2011, and when reminiscing on that game, Rooney reserved some special praise for one City player in particular.

Rooney was speaking about his 6-1 defeat at the hands of City all those years ago.

The pundit noted that City did have a brilliant team back then, claiming that Edin Dzeko in particular was a player who didn’t get the credit he necessarily deserved.

“No, City then had a good team. Dzeko doesn’t get the credit he deserves. Silva, and Balotelli was there as well. They had a good team, Toure, Kompany, Hart in goal,” Rooney said.

Mohamed Salah has even praised Dzeko in the past, and while he doesn’t get mentioned often as a Man City legend, he was a top striker in his day.

Indeed, Dzeko turned up in some massive moments for City, including that famous 3-2 win against QPR back in 2012, and he also has a fantastic record in Manchester derbies.
