“My health and my career” – Wolves player has clear objectives as he fights to get level

Wolverhampton Wanderers striker Sasa Kalajdzic has insisted he’s only focused on his health and his career as he looks to get back on track at Linz.

[Heute cover comments](https://www.heute.at/) from the striker today in which he insists his primary goal is playing time, not getting back in the Austria set up.

The striker joined Linz on loan from Wolves at the end of the transfer window after it was made clear he was not a part of Vitor Pereira’s immediate plans.

He needs regular playing time somewhere after returning from the third cruciate ligament injury of his career earlier this year.

His career has been seriously halted by injuries, with his first cruciate ligament tear in 2019 seeing him spent 264 days out of action and miss 34 games for club and country.

His second, in 2022, saw another 275 days on the treatment table, missing 43 games for Wolves and Austria before this third, in February 2024 while on loan at Eintracht Frankfurt, was the worst. That saw him out for 437 days and 52 games in total.

Now he’s looking to get back on track at Linz and insists the national team is not his primary driver.

“It’s a topic. How long, we’ll see,” he said.

“My primary goal is not the national team, but my health and my career. The national team is an ulterior motive, that’s clear,”

Austria boss Ralf Rangnick, though, is more than aware of the move happening and believes it’s a smart choice from the Wolves man.

“It makes sense. For me, it’s crucial that he plays regularly and that he’s brought back into shape after his three cruciate ligament tears,” he said.
