Jacob Ramsey’s start to life at Newcastle United has been hampered by an injury setback.
The 24-year-old suffered an ankle injury during Newcastle’s 0-0 draw with Leeds United at Elland Road, just before the September international break.
He has been unable to train since and is now expected to remain sidelined until after the October international break.
As a result, Ramsey is set to miss Newcastle’s next seven matches across all competitions, including the club’s first Champions League league phase clash against Barcelona at St. James’ Park.
Villa sold Ramsey to Newcastle for an initial £39 million last month, with a further £5 million potentially due in add-ons.
After coming off the bench in the 3-2 home defeat to Liverpool, Ramsey made his first start under Eddie Howe but was substituted at half-time due to the ankle injury.
“Jacob Ramsey is the only other injury concern we have,” Howe explained ahead of Newcastle’s match against Wolves.
“He will miss the game having suffered from that tackle against Leeds. His ankle swelled up at half-time and he had to come off.
“Unfortunately I think he will be missing until after the next international break so that is a big blow."
