NFL Thursday night: Josh Jacobs extends TD streak in Packers’ win

Green Bay Packers running back Josh Jacobs extended his streak of games with a rushing touchdown to 11 in a 27-18 victory over the Washington Commanders on Thursday night.

The former Alabama ball-carrier scored on a 2-yard run as Green Bay took a 14-0 lead with 7:34 left in the first half.

Jacobs became the seventh player in the NFL’s AFC/NFC era to post a rushing touchdown in at least 11 consecutive games. It’s the ninth such streak, with John Riggins and Emmitt Smith accomplishing the feat twice. Other players with streaks of at least 11 games since 1970 include Priest Holmes, George Rogers, Jonathan Taylor and LaDainian Tomlinson.

Jacobs’ streak covers the final eight games of the 2024 regular season, a playoff contest and the first two games of 2025.

Jacobs also became the sixth player in NFL history with at least nine rushing touchdowns in games played on Thursday. Smith has the most Thursday rushing touchdowns with 13. Derrick Henry and Barry Sanders have 10 Thursday rushing touchdowns apiece. Jacobs joined Tony Dorsett and Ezekiel Elliott with nine each.

Since the NFL began playing regularly on Thursday night in 2006, Jacobs has scored in all four of his appearances. He’s the only player with at least three Thursday night games in that span who has scored in each.

Jacobs gained 84 yards on 23 carries against Washington.

Green Bay quarterback Jordan Love completed 19-of-32 passes for 292 yards with two touchdowns and no interceptions, with tight end Tyler Kraft catching six passes for 124 yards and one touchdown.

Washington quarterback Jayden Daniels completed 24-of-42 passes for 200 yards with two touchdowns and no interceptions.

Daniels was sacked four times, Green Bay had 84 more rushing yards than Washington and the Commanders offense converted 5-of-12 third-down and 1-of-3 fourth-down snaps.
