Leeds United fans were disappointed after what transpired on transfer deadline day. The events of that day completely changed the overall perception of the transfer window.
Leeds got off to a great start as they began recruiting top names to add to the defence and midfield. The likes of Anton Stach and Jaka Bijol were brought in to bolster key areas. Leeds’ plan was to address the attacking situation late in the window, but some factors forced them to move from major targets.

When asked why the Whites never pushed to sign the big names they had targeted in attack, Managing Director Robbie Evans claims the club spent all they could:
“Yeah, so unequivocally, we are maxing PSR out this season, this summer.
“We spent everything we could. If we had gone onto other targets yesterday or onto higher price players back in July, the consequences would have been seen in the current roster…”

Manchester City make shock Kalvin Phillips decision

Kalvin Phillips was a named that popped up on the radar this summer. Leeds are still being linked with their former midfielder. There were serious suggestions that his contract at Manchester City could be terminated to allow him to leave, but now it seems like plans have changed.
The Telegraph are reporting that City will name the 29-year old in their 25-man Premier League squad for the season. This will most likely hand Phillips another chance to get back into the first team.

The midfielder spent last season on loan at Ipswich Town, where he managed to play just 19 league games.
Leeds United stance on move for former midfielder
Graeme Bailey recently said that any possible move would have to be in January. But if Phillips plays himself into the first team, it will be very difficult for Manchester City to part ways in the middle of the season.
But as at now, he is not a priority for Leeds United.
