Latest Injury Update and Recovery Timeline for Deatrich Wise Jr.
Wise will undergo more tests on Friday, but head coach Dan Quinn has yet to provide a definitive timeline for the veteran’s return. The initial diagnosis is a quadriceps injury, though the exact severity remains unclear pending further medical evaluation.
You hate to see Deatrich Wise getting injured on a play like a PAT. Couldn’t see where they were tending to, but from this, I worry about his ankle (distal fibula, medial malleolus, deltoid, etc). Knee seemed to maybe valgus and twist too, so I also wonder about his MCL/meniscus. pic.twitter.com/RKX7MTz4kf

The hopeful news is that Wise did not suffer the type of injury that will keep him out for multiple weeks and the remainder of the season. Granted, the scene looked grim, but the Commanders will need to do tests to determine what occurred to the defensive end.
Wise’s absence creates immediate depth concerns for Washington’s pass rush. With Wise sidelined, the Commanders will likely lean on backups Javontae Jean-Baptiste and Erin Kamara to fill the void on the defensive line.
It remains to be seen how the team moves forward with their backup plan while Wise remains sidelined.
