Green Bay Packers Suffer Huge Loss During Win over Commanders

The Green Bay Packers walked away with a 27-18 win over the Washington Commanders on Thursday night, but the celebration came with a gut punch. Wide receiver Jayden Reed broke his collarbone on the opening drive of the game, and the injury could sideline him for 6–8 weeks.

Reed’s injury happened on a play that didn’t even count. He laid out for what looked like a 39-yard touchdown grab, but the score was wiped away thanks to a holding penalty on right tackle Anthony Belton.

Head coach Matt LaFleur admitted afterward that losing Reed is a massive blow.

“He’s going to miss a lot of time,” LaFleur said. “We’ll see how fast he can recover and heal and certainly I would expect him back at some point this season, but obviously it’s a big blow to us. He’s a guy who’s a catalyst for our offense and our football team, quite frankly, the energy he brings, and he’s a dog.”

Reed has been one of Green Bay’s most dynamic playmakers, a spark plug for the offense. Without him, the Packers’ depth at receiver will be tested heavily in the coming weeks.

Our Detroit Lions don’t face the Packers again until Thanksgiving Day. That means Reed should be healed and ready for what could be a pivotal NFC North showdown under the holiday spotlight.
