Report: Player Steve Parish called 'very talented' now suddenly leaves Crystal Palace in…

The summer transfer window ended on Monday 1st September for Crystal Palace, but it remains open elsewhere.

Clubs in Turkey, Saudi Arabia, Greece, Mexico, Portugal and Serbia are still trading, but have a tough task to find players given the fact Premier League sides and others are unable to sign replacements.

Turkish Super Lig – Friday 12th September

Super League Greece – Friday 12th September

Liga MX (Mexico) – Friday 12th September

Liga Portugal – Monday 15th September

Serbian Super Liga – Wednesday 17th September

Saudi Pro League – Tuesday 23rd September

However, Caykur Rizespor have now managed to strike a surprise deal to take Jesurun Rak-Sakyi from Crystal Palace.

Caykur Rizespor sign Jesurun Rak-Sakyi

Ajansspor in Turkey now state that Caykur Rizespor have reached an agreement to sign the 22-year-old.

The Turkish news outlet does not exactly make it clear whether Rak-Sakyi has left Selhurst Park on loan or in a permanent move.

Salim Manan – a journalist for Ajansspor – posted about the news on X (previously known as Twitter) where little was added to the story, except for an interesting line which says the Crystal Palace No.49 is expected “to arrive in Turkey in the short term”.

It is unclear whether that means Rak-Sakyi will only be staying in Turkey for the short term, or Caykur Rizespor simply expect him to arrive shortly. It is somewhat lost in translation, so keep an eye out for official confirmation from Crystal Palace.

Crystal Palace have let Jesurun Rak-Sakyi down

Rak-Sakyi, who rejected Leeds, looked set to emulate the likes of Wilfried Zaha as recently as 2023 after a stunning loan spell at Charlton.

Before sending the Londoner to The Valley, Steve Parish handed him a new five-year contract and said: “Jesurun is a very talented young footballer who has displayed a tremendous attitude while progressing swiftly through the club’s ranks. We’re very confident that he has a bright future ahead of him, and this long-term contract is indicative of that.”

The Southwark-born forward scored 15 goals and provided eight assists in 43 League One appearances for our south London rivals, the type of form that surely would have made Parish and Dougie Freedman consider signing him, had he not already been a Crystal Palace player.

Therefore, his treatment since that loan has been nothing short of odd.

Crystal Palace even rejected £15m for Rak-Sakyi last summer before sending him on an unsuccessful loan spell to Sheffield United, and a move to Turkey now represents a huge setback for the attacker, who is seeing his career stall badly.

Hopefully, it is only a loan to Caykur Rizespor, as it would be a real shame to lose one of our own before he receives a proper chance under Oliver Glasner.
