Ruben Amorim has confirmed that Altay Bayindir will retain his place in goal for Manchester United's derby clash with Manchester City on Sunday.

The Turkish goalkeeper has started all three of United's Premier League games this season, but his position as No.1 is deemed under threat after United's deadline day £21.7million signing of Senne Lammens.

With Andre Onana now having moved to Trabzonspor on a season-long loan, the battle to become Amorim's first-choice goalkeeper is between Bayindir and Lammens.

However, the Belgian shot-stopper will have to bide his time before he is thrown into the action, with Bayindir in line to start against City.

'Altay is going to continue,' said Amorim. 'It’s a difficult league, country and training, they will fight for the position. For me, this game is clear, Altay will start. I believe in Altay and he is ready to play.’
