Just in: Amorim confirms Bayindir will start over Lammens v Man City as £141m Man Utd trio…

Manchester United goalkeeper Altay Bayindir will get the chance to prove that he can keep the first-team shirt against rivals Manchester City on Sunday - with manager Ruben Amorim confirming that the Turkish star will start between the sticks against Pep Guardiola's men, ranking ahead of Senne Lammens for now in the pecking order at Old Trafford.

The report by Samuel Luckhurst on X (formerly Twitter) states that boss Amorim has confirmed that Bayindir will start in the Manchester derby vs local rivals City on Sunday afternoon, despite signing young Belgian goalkeeper Lammens from Royal Antwerp on transfer deadline day, replacing the out-of-favour Andre Onana, who has decided to move to Bayindir's home nation to join Trabzonspor on a season-long loan deal.

Lammens joined in a £21million deal from the Belgian Pro League, and with Onana out the door, that could see him thrust into action for the long-term - but it's Bayindir who will look to thwart Erling Haaland and co, according to Luckhurst. Lammens made 44 appearances for Antwerp last season,

Elsewhere, £141million trio Mason Mount, Matheus Cunha and Diogo Dalot are all out injured, and that could pose a threat towards United's ability to create goals in the long-awaited derby clash. But away from the attacking ranks, Turkish star Bayindir will remain between the sticks after starting in each of United's games so far this season, conceding four goals in three games in the Premier League against Arsenal, Fulham and Burnley.
