Mikel Arteta has revealed that William Saliba is already back in training, having recovered from the twisted ankle sustained in the warm-up at Anfield.
The France international started against Liverpool and tried to run the problem off, but was substituted inside five minutes and subsequently withdrawn from international duty.
L’Equipe reported earlier this week that they expected the defender to be absent for up to a month. However, it appears the 24-year-old has recovered quicker than expected.
Facing the media ahead of Saturday’s clash with Nottingham Forest, the boss revealed: “Willy trained today, so we have a decision to make [about tomorrow’s game]. Very good news.”
Arteta also confirmed that Ben White is available after missing the last two games.
Kai Havertz and Bukayo Saka remain sidelined by knee and hamstring issues, respectively, while Gabriel Jesus, recovering from ACL surgery, is expected to make his return at the turn of the year.
