Leeds United academy product Kalvin Phillips is reportedly set to be given a lifeline at Manchester City.
Phillips had performed heroics at Elland Road, developing into an impressive Premier League operator and established England international.
However, his move to the Etihad Stadium has not worked out. Opportunities in Pep Guardiola’s star-studded squad have been limited, while loan spells at West Ham United and Ipswich Town have failed to catapult him up the pecking order.
It appeared his time at the club was effectively over, even if an injury had seemingly denied him a move in the summer window.

Kalvin Phillips twist
According to The Telegraph, Phillips is set to be named in Manchester City’s 25-man Premier League squad.
If the Yorkshireman does indeed make the cut, he will be available for selection in league fixtures and could manage to fight his way into the fold.
Kalvin Phillips’ time at Leeds United
Phillips had established himself at senior level prior to Marcelo Bielsa’s appointment as Leeds boss, but it was the Argentine’s arrival that transformed the midfielder.
He flourished under the tutelage of the legendary manager, winning plaudits for his defensive grit and ability to dictate the tempo of games.

Phillips was key as Leeds clinched the Championship title in 2020 and went on to play a starring role for the club in the top flight.
A club statement announcing his departure in 2022 read: "No words can thank Kalvin enough for his efforts whilst at the club and we wish him nothing but success in the future.
“Kalvin inspired so many people in the city, not only for what he did on the pitch, but also for the work he did in the local community.
"He will always be a champion in Leeds, remembered for playing his part in getting the club back to where it belongs and will always be welcome at Elland Road."
